Atelier Karia | New Mainline RPG Launches in Early 2027
Atelier Karia: The Night Kingdom & the Guide of Memories has been announced as the next mainline entry in the Atelier series. Koei Tecmo and Gust will release the fantasy alchemy RPG worldwide in early 2027 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC via Steam.
Atelier Karia begins a new journey beneath the continent of Aladiss
Atelier Karia returns to the continent of Aladiss two years after the events of Atelier Yumia: The Alchemist of Memories & the Envisioned Land. A phenomenon known as mana withering is spreading across the surface, leaving the region increasingly desolate and pushing its explorers to search for answers.
The story follows Karia, an adventurer from the Aladiss Pioneering Team who has lost all memories of her past. While investigating a group of ruins, she discovers an unknown underground world, a massive cauldron, and an unfamiliar form of alchemy that may help her understand both the crisis affecting Aladiss and the origins of her unusual abilities.
Karia's lost memories lead to a mysterious underground kingdom
Karia will explore the hidden world beneath Aladiss alongside Servio Lektor, a researcher from the Pioneering Team, and Fina Rozen, a talented fighter. Yumia Liessfeldt will also return and guide Karia as she begins learning how to use alchemy.
The underground kingdom has developed its own culture and technology away from the damaged surface. Karia and her companions will travel between both regions, uncover ancient legends, investigate the source of the mana withering, and confront secrets connected to Karia's forgotten past.
Alchemy expands into exploration, meals, and building
Synthesis remains central to the Atelier experience, but created items will now play a larger role outside combat. Players can use them to destroy obstacles, open new routes, reach hidden locations, improve buildings, and obtain different ingredients while exploring.
Karia can also eat ingredients, cooked meals, weapons, bombs, and other synthesized items. What she consumes can change her appearance, grant new abilities, and provide useful effects for exploration or battle. The official game details indicate that players will be able to discover more than 100 different forms and abilities through this system.
Refined combat and an early 2027 worldwide release
The battle system builds on the real-time combat introduced in Atelier Yumia while adding more strategic control. Players will be able to parry enemy attacks during active combat or pause time to select skills and items through a command menu.
